WHAT IS OASIS? - Oasis is a weekend youth conference hosted right here in Manhattan, KS. Oasis is exciting and geared for you, a teen in today's world.
WHO CAN ATTEND? - Middle and High School Students
WHEN IS OASIS? - NOVEMBER 17-18 (Friday-Saturday). We'll meet at UCC's office parking lot (1506 Browning Pl.) at 6:00pm Friday evening (please eat supper before you come). We'll be done on Saturday night at 8:30pm. Your rides can pick you up at UCC's Youth Building in the main church campus parking lot (2800 Claflin Rd.).
WHERE IS OASIS? - The main sessions will take place at McCain Auditorium on K-State's Campus with other activities taking place on Manhattan Christian College's campus.
WHERE ARE WE STAYING? - Guys and girls will stay at different host homes here in town.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
- Early Registration: $40 due by Wednesday, October 18th.
- Late Registration: $50 after October 18th.
You'll need money for one fast-food meal on Saturday night. Additional spending money is optional for things like late night snacks, offering, conference merchandise such as CDs, t-shirts, etc..
WHAT FORMS DO I NEED?
- UCC Medical Release Form (NOW ONLINE!) - must be current within the last year; if current, you don't need to turn in a new one.
- Oasis Registration/Consent Form
You can register by check or cash payment to Josh or Craig. Checks can be made payable to "UCC" with "Oasis" in the memo line. Or you can pay online here! (If paying online, you still need to fill out and turn in the appropriate forms.)
WHO IS THE SPEAKER? - Trip Lee is an author, teacher, hip-hop artist, and thought leader whose deepest desire in his writing, teaching, and performing is to declare the goodness and glory of Jesus Christ. A pastor in Atlanta, he regularly preaches and teaches at Christian conferences and events, and has performed his music for thousands of listeners around the world.
In his first book, The Good Life, Lee points to the abundant life available only in Christ – a life beyond anything the world can offer. His second book, Rise, calls a younger generation not to wait to follow God, but to get up and live now.
As a hip-hop artist, Lee’s music has received critical acclaim, while reaching a large and growing audience. He’s won a Stellar Award and been nominated for several Dove Awards. His last three albums have debuted at #1 on the Billboard Gospel charts, and his most recent album, Rise, debuted at #2 on the Billboard Rap charts and #16 on the Billboard 200.
We're excited to have Trip share the truth of Jesus through Hip-Hop and teaching this year.
WHO IS LEADING WORSHIP? - The Jordan Howerton Band has led thousands of students and adults closer to Jesus through engaging and high energy worship music. They not only bring excellence in their music, but teach students what a heart seeking Jesus looks like as they lead students. They love to take time to meet students outside of worship sessions, and have a rare way of connecting with students from a variety of walks of life. In addition to work with JHB, Jordan is currently on staff with Christ's Church of the Valley in Phoenix, AZ.
The Jordan Howerton Band has played for various conferences including CIY, PlanetWisdom, and Simply Youth Conference. We've been honored to have JHB with us several times in the past and are excited to partner with them again. Your students will approach worship with a fresh heart when you get home as a result of spending time worshipping Jesus with Jordan and the guys!
WHAT SHOULD I BRING? - Clothing, toiletries, towel, overnight sleep stuff (sleeping bag, pillow, PJs, favorite story books to read to your friends), Bible, journal or notebook, writing utensil, and a friend!
